Wednesday Grind

I've been a little light in posting recently, which I apologize for. I'm preparin' for a huntin' trip to Wyoming, a trip that's been many years in the makin'. Tryin' to get packed and get all my shit in order without goin' insane. Good times.

But I will bring you today's Grinder, courtesy of Fear Factory. This will be the last one for a few weeks, until I get back.

The video's from the Australian Big Day Out '04. Song's from '95's Demanufacture.

H/T to CharlieDelta for turnin' me on to these guys. Fuckin' awesome, heavy shit. Love it.

That's No Rubber Band Gun. This Is a Rubber Band Gun.

From the J-Ro archives, we have this epic kid's-toy-gone-batshit-insane. Be sure to watch the video.

I know I want one, and I'm sure CharlieDelta does too. Although I'm pretty sure neither of us could own one without windin' up in the clink. Then I'd have to go through the trouble of makin' someone my bitch, and that's just too much work. So I'll ogle this stretchy wonderment from afar and dream "What if?"

An awful day indeed

Ford is takin' my first beloved of the production line.

The last Ford Crown Victoria rolled off a Canadian assembly line Thursday, marking the end of the big, heavy Ford cars that have been popular with taxi fleets and police departments for decades.

My grandma gave our family her '91 Crown Vic around the time I turned 17, so I wound up drivin' the old beast for the rest of my high school and college career. After school, I picked up an '88 with a lot less miles on it and drove that for about five years. Fell very much in love with the big ol' 302 V-8, sure-footed handlin' and roomy, comfortable interior along the way.

The Crown Victoria and its cousins have been popular with fleet users because of their roominess, legendary ruggedness and relative simplicity.

Most cars today are built with so-called unibody engineering in which the body sides and roof play a role in keeping the body rigid. The Panther Platform vehicles were engineered with an old-fashioned body-on-frame design that's mostly used by pickup trucks today because, while heavier, it's better able to bounce back from heavy, punishing use.

"You couldn't kill it no matter what you did to it," Ford spokesman Octavio Navarro said of the Crown Victoria.

I can attest to that, as I put mine through a gamut of abuse over the years. Although I will admit that I killed the '91 by seeing if it fit into the trunk of a Geo Metro. Didn't fit very well

But before that, when I was workin' at the farm on a regular basis, I'd beat the ol' bitch around the fields lookin' for groundhogs to shoot, among other attrocities. Discovered somewhere with the '91 that I could fit 11 adults in without too much trouble. Also discovered that the backseat was very, very roomy. Aside from other endeavors, I spent many hours sleepin' in the back of 'em, especially durin' school.

Truth be told, I had both of 'em well over 100mph many, many times. I had no fear of whippin' into corners, drivin' on bald tires, takin' chances every chance I could. I had no business livin' through my Crown Vic years.

Dug around and found some ol' pictures of the '88 from when my cousin Jordan and I took an epic roadtrip back in '06...

Some tough-ass blockin' the view of a perfectly good car.

We had no fun on that trip whatsoever.
Sad day indeed. Hopefully in my future I'll be able to find a good used one somewhere.

I miss them ol' bitches.

DEAR ATTACK WATCH...

... President Obama Caliph Cooncracker is a socialist, narcissist, racist, incompetent, cum-guzzling, greedy, whipped, power-hungry, teleprompter-reading, lying pile of worthless batshit whose asinine, shitty policies have run the country I love into the ground. I can't wait, CAN'T WAIT for this asshat clown and his socialist-fuck cronies to be out of DC so we can hopefully start cleanin' this mess up.

I'm an eeeeevil God fearin', gun lovin', self-sufficient redneck and I approve this message.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

As with my friend on the Main Line, with a few exceptions I try to stay away from the political bullshit on my space. However, thin-skinned, cowardly fucktards from the left and their "snitch" websites are hard to ignore.

A busy week

Lotta shit goin' on the last few days...

Our neighbor upstate sent this picture of our cottage durin' the flood out here. This was taken Thursday afternoon, and the water came up a few more feet before it crested, just to the base of our cottage. We're very thankful that it didn't come any higher. For reference, if I drew a line from the bottom of the cottage to where the water line usually is, it would be at the very least 45 feet, if not more. Higher than I'd wanna go up a deer stand, fer sure.

Aside from a good bit of destruction in town and some neighbors sustaining damage to their homes, everyone is safe so we can be thankful for that.

I could post pictures all day long of the shitstorm up there, but here's just a few...
View from the hill above our cottage, lookin' down on the neighbors.
The bridge into Wyalusing. This was also taken on Thursday afternoon.
The paved part of the bridge was completely underwater overnight.

Ariel shot of the east side of Wyalusing.

Friday night I had to say goodbye to one of my ladies.

She came into my life when I needed her the most, as a replacement when the Triumph was broke down and too expensive to fix. She was old, but had plenty of spunk, and I enjoyed ridin' her almost daily for a summer.

Finally, she too started actin' up, and I was able to get the Triumph fixed.

I spent a good bit of time, off and on, the last year or so gettin' her runnin' again, I finally got her back to great runnin' shape and put her on Craigslist.

I enjoyed ridin' her again for a little bit this summer, but the time finally came to say goodbye. She was a classic, good runnin' bike and I'm sure I'll miss her, but I feel like she had a good home waitin' for her once the transaction was done. I'm sure I'll regret sellin' that bike in the future, but at this point it didn't make sense to keep her.

So, with the blood money I went and bought one of these. It's a '42 M91/30, a Russian infantry gun chambered for the 7.62x54. I haven't taken any pictures of mine yet, nor have I shot it, but it seems to be in good condition and they have a reputation for bein' very accurate. I'll have it at the range on Sunday with some buddies, and we'll have to try 'er out. Wasn't really somethin' I needed, but I got more for the bike than I anticipated and these were a fair price at the local gun shop, so I picked it up. Since I'm gettin' ready for Wyoming, I've been shootin' my ought-six and my inline a good bit, so I'll have ample time to play with it the next few weeks.

And it's a good thing that I can hit targets standin' still, because I had a piss-poor showin' on doves the other day. 0-13... haven't shot that shitty since I was a teenager. But I did manage to capture this pretty cool picture as the storms were rollin' through....

Flooding everywhere... What a clusterfuck

Roads are closed everywhere.

People can't seem to keep from doin' dumb things on said closed roads.

Crops are standin' in fields of water.

The river upstate is knockin' on our family cottage's front door.

Can't set foot outside without gettin' soaked.

Friends are stuck at work, and can't get home.

Other friends are stuck at home and can't go anywhere.

Sorry CenTexTim, I really, really, really wish we could send some of this your way, because we got the shits of it.

From their '10 album of the same name. Couldn't find a decent live track, so you'll have to put up with the campy video of fine bitches beatin' the hell outta each other.

Trail Camera

Well, it was a long-ass weekend. A lotta work and drivin', and not enough sleep. Somehow made it home alive though.

Highlight of the week though was a brief visit to Bradford County. Went out for a goose hunt with my little brother, visited with Ron and pulled my trail camera card. Went back to the truck and unloaded it on my laptop while I went back in and cleared some trails.

Lemme tell ya, there's a few pictures on there that got my attention. I don't know how much I'll get to hunt this location, but pullin' the card and goin' through the pictures that first time is almost like Christmas morning.

Here's a few of 'em...

A nice 9-point.

Very surprised to see a bobcat!

A wide 7-point.

Perfect mainframe 8-point.

A much bigger 9-point... a nice old pot-bellied buck.

Another shooter... not sure how big though.

Pretty sure it's the big 9-point again.

My pet 7-point, from the video I posted a few weeks back.

Goose and Dove Opener

Today marks one of the best days of the year in my family, the openers for early goose and dove season here in ol' Pennsyltucky. It's the annual start to the fall huntin' season, and a day that I look forward to as much for its symbolic nature as I do for the hunt itself. The first day always brings fond memories of walkin' the cornfields with good friends and family, bangin' away at doves and then divin' into a goose blind to finish the evenin' out.

My schedule bein' as it is, I might not be able to make it out until the last hour of daylight, but damnit, I'll take the gun for a walk around the farm just to say I did. Hopefully I'll get a little more time this weekend, although I'm plannin' on goin' to an auction with some buddies on Saturday.

I bid my friend on the Main Line good luck, as hopefully he'll be able to get out for a hunt soon as well.
